Completion of Multi-Purpose Room

Tuesday, June 21, 2011 was an exciting day for Salem Home. It was a day that was a long time in the visioning and planning. The completed Multi-Purpose Room was formally dedicated and opened to the public.

The space has been used by residents and staff alike – the residents watched the royal wedding while being served tea and crumpets, and education sessions for staff have been held in the room affording an inviting learning environment.

The construction of this space was made possible through a generous gift from Mr Abe B Wiebe and his late wife Tina. We are immensely grateful for this gift and the possibilities it provides.

What is The Salem Foundation?

The Salem Foundation is a charitable organization founded by ten Anabaptist Churches of Winkler Manitoba. The Foundation is involved in numerous projects which make a significant difference in the lives of the residents entrusted into Salem Home's care.

Salem Foundation makes it possible for care to be provided in a meaningful way by:

Providing ongoing financial support for programs of Salem Home which enrich the lives of the residents
Fundraising for special initiatives which enhance the quality of life of the residents
Providing Forgivable Loans for staff who are furthering their education in Nursing

Some of the past projects funded by the Foundation:

The implementation of electronic health records
Purchase of properties with Salem Home for future development
Blanket warming units for each neighbourhood
Permanent ceiling lifts for resident suites
Staff training in QUIS-EH-O for enhanced resident care
Construction of Multi-Purpose Room
Duet bicycles for residents

You can Make a Difference: It is only with your help that Salem Foundation can make a difference in the lives of the residents of Salem Home and the elderly in the community of Winkler.

Gifts can be made in several ways:

A monetary gift by cheque or cash
A monetary pledge to be fulfilled monthly of over a one-to-five year period
A gift in honour of, or in memory of, a loved family member or friend
A planned gift such as a bequest, gift of stock, property, life insurance or an endowment

Receipts will be issued for donations over $10 if requested.

The Salem Foundation is very grateful for the support it has received over the past years, allowing it to be involved in programs and projects which have made a significant difference in the lives of the residents and staff of Salem Home. THANK YOU!
