Turning $500,000
               into $1 Million! 

$500,000 donation to be gifted if matching $500,000 can be raised by December 31, 2010!
 
Salem Home residents, Winkler and the surrounding district, and Salem staff will be the beneficiaries if the Salem Foundation, through the generosity of the Community, raise $500,000 in donations and pledges between now and December 31, 2010!
 
The Salem Foundation has an opportunity to receive a donation of $500,000 subject to the Foundation raising matching funds. This means that every dollar raised by the community, actually equals two dollars raised for the benefit of Salem Home residents!
 
“This is an exciting undertaking for us,” said Abe Wieler, Salem Foundation Chair. “The primary purpose of the Foundation is to raise funds to support services and projects within Salem Home that are not funded by the provincial government, but make a positive impact on the every day lives of the residents. This opportunity will help achieve some of our goals if the matching donations are raised.”  The Foundation’s goals, which are many, include completion of the project to install a permanent lift in each resident’s suite, a new handi-van, etc.

What is The Salem Foundation?

The Salem Foundation is a charitable organization founded by ten Anabaptist Churches of Winkler Manitoba.  The Foundation is involved in numerous projects which make a significant different in the lives of the residents entrusted into Salem Home's care. 

Salem Foundation makes it possible for care to be provided in a meaningful way by:

  • Providing ongoing financial support for programs of Salem Home which enrich the lives of the residents
  • Fundraising for special initiatives which enhance the quality of life of the residents
  • Providing Forgivable Loans for staff who are furthering their education in Nursing

 Some of the recent projects funded by the Foundation:

  • Dining Rooms on Maple and Evergreen Units
  • An electric bed for every resident's room
  • Ceiling Track Lifts for each resident's room
  • The implementation of Electronic Health Records
  • Purchase of land for additional parking
  • Purchase of house and lot together with Salem Home for future development
  • Blanket Warming Units for each neighbourhood

You can Make a Difference:  It is only with your help that Salem Foundation can make a difference in the lives of the residents of Salem Home and the elderly in the community of Winkler.

  • A monetary gift by cheque or cash
  • A monetary pledge to be fulfilled monthly of over a one-to-five year period
  • A gift in honor of, or in memory of, a loved family member or friend
  • A planned gift such as a bequest, gift of stock, property, life insurance or an endowment

Receipts will be issued for donations over $10 if requested.
